The upcoming Agriculture Conference is dedicated to the Earth as a living being and the seven life processes through which we intend to approach the question of what life is.
The artwork chosen for this conference is an exploration of Rudolf Steiner’s watercolor "Easter" (7/19 April 1924), which we were able to exhibit in its original form during the past anniversary conference.
This conference image highlights a particular aspect of the Easter watercolor. It displays a play of seven colors, enclosed in an oval that fills the entire format: the poles of light and dark intensify into color. The light above and the darkness below create life in their zone of confluence. Yellow above and blue below merge in the middle to form green, symbolizing the life of the Earth.
Other colors of the spectrum come together to form a whole, in which the “cosmic egg” floats. The life processes, in their sevenfold progression, resonate within this occurrence. The coloring of the seven life processes is accompanied by the twelvefold nature of the senses, which are indicated as numerals around the circle. It could also be said that the twelvefold spans the circle in which the sevenfold harmony is played.
These are some of the suggestions that may provide us with orientation as we contemplate this vibrant work. We are excited to work with this image in the coming weeks and to use it in creating the conference poster and flyer.
